Ronon was nearly bowled over by a panicked looking Ethan as he came around the corner. He took in his brother’s pale face, flaring nostrils and could hear the pounding of his litmate’s heart. “Brother? Is all well?” he asked, reverting to his native tongue.

Ethan vibrated with fear, something that wasn’t normal. “No! It is not well. She is a Weaver!” His brother’s hands curled into his shirt, shaking him. “Why did you not tell me! You could have warned me!”

Ronon chuckled and carefully untwisted Ethan’s fingers. He took him by the shoulders and guided him into an empty room. Shutting the door, he explained. “Yes, I know she’s a Weaver. Why do you think I stayed here? That much power must be protected.”

Ethan paced the floor, hands waving frantically. “But they don’t exist! They’re myths, legends. And how can she be here? On this world?”

He leaned against the door, waiting until Ethan calmed down. When he didn’t, he folded his arms and said the only thing he could. “She does not know the power she holds, brother. She is completely oblivious to her effect on other worlds.”

Ethan spun to face him, eyes glowing. “Why have you not told her?”

He sighed and moved further into the room, sitting on the bed. “Because, if I tell her what it means, I will have to take her before the Founders and you know what they will do to her.”

Ethan’s pacing paused a step then resumed. “They will dissect her, tear her apart to get at her power.”

He nodded. “If not worse. They could use her to re-write the history of a thousand worlds to meet their own needs.” He shifted his shoulder in a shrug. “I could not let that happen. She is not my Talisman, she is my Karista.”

Ethan’s shoulders stiffened and he spun, eyes wide. “No! It cannot be! After so long?”

He smiled widely and his heart kicked over a triple beat. “Yes, it is. I knew it the moment we met and followed her here.” He gazed at a point on the far wall, remembering her as she’d been on his world that night and described it for Ethan, just so his brother would understand. “Silver-Blue with Black.”

Ethan sucked in a tell-tale breath and it came back out in a whoosh of sound. “Just as you dreamed…”

He blinked back the memory and locked eyes with his litmate’s. “Yes, just as I dreamed,” he confirmed. “Four centuries ago.”
